Dr. Clara Montagut
About Me
Clara Montagut is a medical oncologist, Head of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Section at the Hospital del Mar Oncology Department and Deputy Director of the Hospital del Mar Research Institute, where she also leads the Precision Medicine in Colorectal Cancer Group. She is an associate professor at the Pompeu Fabra University.
After training as a medical oncologist at the Hospital Clinic de Barcelona (2000-2004), she completed her translational research training at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center - Harvard School of Medicine, in Boston (2007-2008), where she worked on biomarkers and resistance mechanisms to biological drugs. She later completed a Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York (2017-2018).
She is internationally recognized in the field of precision medicine, biomarkers, resistance to targeted therapies, and the implementation of liquid biopsy in colorectal cancer. Her group investigates the clinical utility of liquid biopsy to guide treatment and resistance to anti-EGFR drugs.
