Simple outside, interesting inside.
The absence of a meter and of focusing is not a shortcoming but a design decision: fewer parts, fewer things that can break. Fifty years on, many of these cameras still fire precisely because they had no electronics to degrade.
At the other end sit the high-end compacts of the 1990s, like the Nikon 28Ti, with excellent optics and electronics that do age. It is worth knowing which of the two groups the camera you are about to buy falls into.
